Achievements include pioneering work with magnetic resonance imaging (Medical Research Institute), discovering how the signals emitted by the body in response to the magnetic field could be mathematically analyzed to produce a clear image. Discovering how fast imaging could be possible by developing the Medical Research Institute protocol called echo-planar imaging, allowing weighted images to be collected many times faster than previously possible.
