Chow took a series of odd jobs including bellboy, postman, camera salesman, and taxi driver before signing up for a training course at TVB, Hong Kong’s leading television station, in 1973.He made over 70 films from 1976 to 1995, during the heyday of the Hong Kong film industry, and was nominated for 12 Hong Kong film awards.Aside from being an action hero, he earned acclaim for dramatic roles.Chow has appeared in over 116 films and 24 television series.
Success finally came when he teamed up with director Yusen Wu in the 1986 gangster action-melodrama A Better Tomorrow, which swept the box offices in Asia and established Chow and Woo as megastars.
