Christina Klein, better known by her stage name LaFee, is a German singer.
Background
LaFee was discovered at the age of 13 by music producer Bob Arnz while performing a spoof of the song Mandy, "Handy" at a children's televised singing contest.
Currently the singer has released 5 studio albums. In her music LaFee mixes elements of heavy guitar rock and pop music. The lyrics of her songs often involve social issues: sexual abuse, violence, lack of spirituality, marriage problems and relationship of children and parents. On her performances LaFee often appears in dark clothes and with an imitation tattoo. «The Frankfurter Rundschau» described the singer as "a mixture of Shakira and gothicism."
Education
For her popularity singer had to pay: there were problems with her classmates, who in every way mocked at Christina. Moreover, it became difficult to combine study with career, so the singer had to stop attending lessons. She began to study by herself, and finally in 2007 passed the exams.
Career
Lafee first attracted national attention in 2004, appearing on the RTL television network amateur showcase Kiddy Contest. Producer Bob Arnz extended a record deal, and in early 2006 LaFee issued her debut single, "Virus," the first of four consecutive Top 40 singles including "Prinzesschen," "Was Ist Das?," and "Mitternacht." Her self-titled debut LP went on to top the German and Austrian charts, as did her second, 2007's Jetzt Erst Recht, which was released through EMI. In 2008, LaFee released Shut Up, her first English album. By her exceptionally high standards up to that point, the record was unsuccessful. Although it became gold in Austria, Shut Up failed to help her break into other European territories. Not to let this slow her down, LaFee bounced back with the high-selling Ring Frei and a greatest hits album in 2009, before releasing Frei in 2011.
