Satish Kaushik is an Indian film director, producer and actor in primarily Hindi films and theatre.
As a film actor he is noted for his roles as 'Calendar' in Mr. India, and as 'Chanu Ahmed' in Sarah Gavron's British film Brick Lane.
As a theatre actor, his most noted role is that of 'Willy Loman' in the Hindi-language play, Salesman Ramlal, an adaptation of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.

Satish Kaushik was born on April 13, 1956 in a village Dhanounda, district Mohindergarh, Haryana, India. He grew up in Delhi, Naiwala gali, Karolbagh. He graduated from Kirori Mal College, New Delhi. He went on to the National School of Drama, New Delhi, where he graduated in 1978. He later studied at Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
Career
Satish Kaushik started his career as an assistant director to Shekhar Kapoor in the film Masoom in 1983. He also performed as an actor in this film, his first.
His first film as a director was Sridevi Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja in 1993. His second was Prem in 1995, which was supposed to be Tabu's launch film. Both were box-office disasters. He continued his film making and got his first hit with Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain in 1999.
He is well known for his role as 'Calendar' in the hit film Mr. India, alongside Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. He also was noted for his character of "Pappu Pager" in the comedy Deewana Mastana in 1997, directed by his friend David Dhawan.
He co-wrote and anchored a TV countdown show, Philips Top Ten', for which he won the Screen Videocon Award.
In 2007, Anupam Kher, who was his batchmate at NSD, and he started Karol Bagh Productions, a new film company. Their first film, Teree Sang, was directed by Satish Kaushik.
His next work is based on the life of Tansen, one of the Navaratnas in Akbar the Great's court. It is produced by Rajshri Productions. The role of Tansen will be played by Abhishek Bachchan, and the soundtrack will be composed by Ravindra Jain. The script for the film is being finished. Kaushik is working to promote Haryana's film industry, and is committed to make five films there. for that he is making five films.
