Louis Antoine was educated privately, joined the army in 1788, and at the outbreak of the Revolution emigrated with his parents. He participated in the wars of the First and Second Coalition against France in the ranks of the royalist émigrés.emigres. After a brief stay in Russia, from 1797 to 1799, he settled at Ettenheim in Baden. Suspected by Napoleon of conspiracy, Enghien was secretly seized in March 1804 and brought to the castle of Vincennes near Paris. Tried by a military commission, the duke, though innocent, was condemned to death and shot. He was the last descendant of the house of Condé.Conde.
