Member of Parliament (Conservative) for the Radcliffe-cum-Famworth Division of Lancashire, 1895-1900. Justice of the Peace, D.L.; Honourable Colonel, retired, 1st Vol. Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers; chairman of J. & J. J. Mellor, Ltd., Bury, and of the Brook Mills Company Ltd., Hey wood, cotton spinning and manufacturing concerns.
