Studied at private school, Weston-super-Mare. Studied at Slade School for several years.
After a year in Italy, spent two in the studio of J. P. Laurens in Paris. Exhibited first at Royal Academy 1879, and has since exhibited there, at the Grosvenor, and New Gallery, the Salon, Munich, etc., various pictures of sea life, portraits, and the nude. In 1889 the Chantrey Trustees purchased All Hands to the Pumps, and in 1894 August Blue. In 1894 Sailors Playing Cards received 1st gold medal at Munich, and was bought by the Bavarian Government.
