1909-1912 drama courses in Riga.
From 1903 actor, New Lat Theater, Riga. 1905-1907 actor, Apollo Theater. From 1908 stage director and actor, Riga New Theater.
1915-1918 at the Lat Theater in Petrograd. 1919 joined the Workers’. Theater of Soviet Lat (now Lat Academy Drama Theater).
1944-1949 artistic director, from 1949 chief stage director of this theater. From 1949 professor, Theater Faculty, Lat State Conservatory. Deputy, Lat Supreme Soviet of 1959 convocation and member, Commission for Culture and Education.
One of the greatest exponents of stagecraft in Lat. Roles: Uldis and Indulis in Vey, veterok (Blow, Breeze) (1914) and ’’Indulis and Aria" (1912), Belugin in Zhenit’ba Belugina (Belugin’s Wedding) (1929). Knurov in Bespridannitsa (Girl Without a Dowry) (1948), etc.
