As member, Military Organization(s), Saint St. Petersburg Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee, carried out active propaganda among troops of Saint St. Petersburg garrison. 1907 re-arrested and exiled to Lyublin. From 1911 contributed to Zvezda then to Pravda-, on instructions from Lenin organized smuggling of Party lit and arranged travel of underground Bolshevik agents to and from Russia.
Summer 1912 went to Saint St. Petersburg for Lenin to help prepare elections for 4th State Duma. August 1913, after completing military sendee, sent to Saint St. Petersburg by Central Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) to work for newspaper Pravda and Duma’s Bolshevik faction. Denounced by agent-provocateur Malinovskiy, arrested and March 1914 exiled to Khar’kov.
Helped prepare Southern Russian Party Conference. To avoid further arrest emigrated to Austria, then moved to Switzerland. Attended Bern Conference of Foreign Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Sections.
Summer 1915 sent by Party Central Committee on underground work to Moscow. November 1915 re-arrested. April 1916 drafted into Russian Army and sent to the front.
After 1917 February Revol elected chairman, regt, then div comt, 11th Army. As representative of Central Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) attended Southwestern Front Congress at Kremenets. April 1917 elected chairman, Army Committee, 11th Army.
May 1917 deleg of Frontline Army Congress in Petrograd. Delegation, 1st All-Russian Congress of Soviets. As Bolshevik candidate elected to Presidium of Congress and elected member, first All-Russian Central Executive Committee.
Active propaganda among workers and soldiers. Contributed to newspaper Soldatskava pravda: June 1917 helped prepare All-Russian Conference of Frontline and Rear Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Organizations and presented report on ’’War, Peace and Offensive”. Elected member, Centr Bureau of All-Russian Military Organization(s), Central Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks).
June-August 1917 arrested by Provisional Government. October 1917 helped organize Congress of Northern Oblast Soviets. Played active role in 1917 October Revol.
Member, Petrograd Military Revol Committee. Member, first Council of People's Commissar, as member, Committee for Military and Naval Affairs. 9 November 1917 appointed Supreme Commander in Chief and People's Commissar for Military Affairs.

Helped prepare publ Istoriya grazhdanskoy voyny (History of the Civil War). Company-founder Biosystems Engineering (Large Soviet Encyclopedia).
Taught at higher educational establishments, including Institute of Red Professor. Head. Chair of Criminal Law, Moscow Institute of Soviet Law. 1928-1934 helped lead six Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences expeditions to the Pamirs.
Foreign a number of years head, All-Union Social of Proletarian Tourism. Directed Soviet chess organisation. 1925-1936 organized international chess tournaments.
Wrote many works on theory and practice of Soviet state system and law. Arrested by State Security organs.
Religion is bad because it doesn't give equal treatment to women and thus offends basic human rights.
