Apprentice at printing works and pharmacy. 1917 served with Red Guards. Helped found and lead Socialist League of Working Youth, PetrogTad.
1918 at 1st Russian Communist Youth League Congress elected member, Central Committee, Russian Communist Youth League. Chairman, Central Committee, Russian Communist Youth League of 1st convocation. Until October 1920 first secretary, Central Committee, Russian Communist Youth League.
Fought in Civil War; from 1924 on Party work. Head, Department of Agitation and Propaganda, and Bureau member, Vyksa Uyezd Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee, Nizhniy Novgorod Province. Then head, Department of Agitation and Propaganda, Nizhniy Novgorod Province All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee.
1934-1937 first secretary, Krasnodar City All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. Delegation at 1st—4th Russian Communist Youth League Congresses, 2nd Communist Youth International Congress and 9th, 15th, 16th and 17th Party Congresses. At 1st—3rd Communist Youth League Congresses elected member, Central Committee, Russian Communist Youth League.
At 15th and 16th Party Congresses elected member All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Centr Control Commission. Arrested by State Security organs.
