Professor, Moscow University, Moscow Institute of History, Philosophy and Literature and Moscow Teachers’ Training Institute. From 1933 member, Pushkin Commission, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. From 1935 senior associate, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
1935-1940 helped to compile Ushakov’s famous 4-volume Tolkovyy slovar’ russkogo yazyka (Explanatory Dictionary of the Russian Language). Coedited and annotated various cd of Pushkin’s works published by the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. Supervised the compilation of a “Dictionary of Pushkin’s Language”.
