Studied at high-school.
From 1905 in revol movement, in early years Bund member, later Menshevik. Expelled from 6th grade of high-school as politically suspect. Repeatedly arrested for revol activities.
1911 exiled to Arkhangel’sk Province. After his release 1913 emigrated to United States of America. Joined American Socialist Party and International Tailors’ Union.
Continued revol work. During World War 1 took internationalist stand. May 1917 returned to Petrograd.
1917 attended 6th Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Congress. Member, Petrograd Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. Party propaganda among workers and soldiers.
Fought against Mesheviks and Socialist-Revolutionaries. September 1917 elected Presidium member, Petrograd Soviet. Delegation at 2nd, 3rd and 4th Congresses of Soviets.
Member and Presidium member, All-Russian Central Executive Committee. After 1917 October Revol Petrograd comissar of press, propaganda and agitation. Editor, newspaper “Krasnaya gazeta”.
Religion in its origin doesn't give equal treatment to women and thus offends basic human rights.
