1896-1897 worked at V. M. Bekhterev and I. P. Pavlov’s laboratories. 1901 — 15 at Biochemical Laboratory, Institute of Experimental Medical From 1918 professor of psychiatry, Tartu, Voronezh then Rostov-on-Don University.
From 1929 associate, Ukraine Institute of Psychiatry, Khar'kov. From 1932 associate, Psychoneurological Academy. Helped found biochemical trend in psychiatry.
Established enzymatic and oxidation changes in mental diseases and experimental endocrinopathy. Studied clinical aspects of progressive paralysis, particularly congenital paralysis, psychopathy and neuroses. Wrote over 120 works.
