Senior Scholar of St. John’s College, 1886. Studied painting and singing at Weimar, 1887, and afterwards painting at the Slade School. Master of Arts.
President of the Union Society, 1887. from 1895 occasional contributor of drawings to Punch and articles to the Nineteenth Century. Lecturer on the staff of the University Extension, 1896-1903. General assistant editor of the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
