Vladimir Kozlov is a contemporary Belorussian writer and producer. The main subject of his books is the life of young people in the USSR, based first of all on his own memories.
Background
Vladimir was born on the 10th of March, 1972 in Mogilev, the Republic of Belarus. His childhood fell on the USSR-times, and all the memories about that period provided the basis for most of his books. Some time later Vladimir spent a couple of years in the USA, where he got acquainted with the American culture and the American youth, but this theme wasn't developed largely in his works, as there was too little time for the writer to get to know the country to the full extent.
Education
Having finished high school in Mogilev, Vladimir entered Mogilev Mechanical Engineering Institute (present Belarussian-Russian University), but left it after the third year. During some years he lived in Minsk where he graduated from Minsk State Linguistic University with a degree in English language. After graduation he left for the United States to study in the journalism school at the Indiana State University, Bloomington.
Career
For some years Vladimir worked as a translator, journalist and editor. In 1998 he started writing books about the life of young people in the USSR. In his works Vladimir concentrates most of all on the development of personality of a young man living in a big city.
In 2013 Vladimir started his career as a producer, having released his first film - "Desyatka" based on his book of the same name. In 2014 his second film - "Steps on the snow" - was released.
Personality
Vladimir says he can identify himself with the main heros of his books. There are various types of characters in his works, such as, for example, a guy who is very different from the society he lives in, but has to be its part, has to change himself to be its member; a man who gets into reality he is not prepared to live in; a lad whose attempt to create a rock-band was not a successful one. Vladimir says he is very alike to his characters, he is a man who is a part of a society he was not and is not prepared and ready to live in.
