A former Gaullist parliamentarian (for Rally for the Republic), Blot also served as a leading civil servant under both Interior Minister Michel Poniatowski and Alain Devaquet. He joined the Front National in 1989 and was elected to the European Parliament for them in the 1989 election. A prominent Eurosceptic he played a leading role in establishing a committee to support the Bruges Group in France.
He has also written for Nation Europa magazine.
The mission statement of this association is to change the French constitution on the Swiss model. He retired from the French administration in July 2013 and is now professor in direct democracy at the university of Nice, at the catholic university of Rennes and in the university of Velikie Novgorod (Russia).

He is now member of the Universiti Malaysia Pahang. He is member of the Catholic Academy of France. He works for the think tank Idexia with Charles Beigbeder and Guillaume Peltier, think tank in favour of the return of the former président Nicolas Sarkozy to power.he is member of the " Academie catholique de France".
