Prior to be Senator, Rashid was a media executive and served Chairman of the Pakistan Television (PTV) from 1997 to 1999. Early life and Education
Pervaiz Rashid was born on 1 May 1950 to a Kasana family of Gujjars in Sialkot. His father, Abdul Rasheed, was an activist of the Pakistan Movement.
After matriculating from local high school in Lahore, Rashid attended the Gordon College where he received his Bachelor in Fine Arts.
At Gordon College, he was regarded as one of the brilliant student as many senior politicians were his class or college fellows at the time. In the 1980s, he joined the Pakistan Television Corporation and worked in a corporate assignments of the PTV. He continued his political relations with the PML(North) and eventually becoming the chairman of the Pakistan Television Corporation in 1997.
In 1999, Rashid"s tenure was eventually terminated by Pervez Musharraf after the latter staged a coup against Nawaz Sharif. Minister of information
