Petar Pjesivac,is a Serbian–Australian prose writer, poet and essayist who writes chiefly in Serbian language.
Education
After completing his elementary education in Belgrade -Serbia ( Yugoslavia), he studied medicine at the Third Medical instituteI. Semashko (Nikolai Semashko) ) Russia ( Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics), continued his medical education at the Belgrade UniversitySerbia ( Yugoslavia ) and graduated from Medical School – Flinders University -South Australia.
Career
Doctor Pjesivac is a qualified medical practitioner currently practicing in Melbourne – Victoria-Australia. His early prose writings were inspired by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization bombardment of Yugoslavia in 1999 and were first published in Toronto – Canada ( 1999 – Z Acin, Magazin za kulturu – "Pogledi" ). His first novel "Z " ( "Ž" ) was published by Stylos Publishing – Novi Sad ( The edition of Matica srpska ) in 2003.
Since then Pjesivac published novels " Tri dvojine – Nara" ( Putokazi-Beograd 2009 ) and his most acclaimed literary work " Priručnik za rušenje" ( Little Nemo – Pančevo ) in 2011.
His novel "Priručnik za rušenje " was a contender for the prestigious NIN literary award NIN Prize(Serbian Cyrillic: NIN-ova nagrada) in 2012. Petar Pjesivac is a regular contributor and columnist for the World Serbian Voice (Serbian Cyrillic: Српски Глас )( Australian edition ).
He was a contributor for the literary magazine " Sveske " Pančevo.
Membership
Petar Pjesivac is an active member of The Association of Writers of Serbia ( Udruzenje Knijževnika Srbije ) since 2011 and a corresponding member of Poets, Playwrights, Editors, Essayists and Novelists association Center United States of America since 2012. He is an associate member of the New York Academy of Sciences since 2011 and an ex president of the Montenegrin Cultural Club – "Njegos", Melbourne – Victoria.
