Peter Banner was born in England.
He was educated in architecture and probably had some years of practice before migrating to America.
Among other works some¬times attributed to Mr. Banner, one authentic example was the Eben Crafts house in Roxbury, near Boston, built about 1805. He is also believed to have designed the Parsonage of the Old South Church in Boston (c. 1809), long since destroyed, and the first building of the American Antiquarian Society at Worcester (won in a competition) erected in 1819 and razed in 1911.
