Career
He moved to San Francisco in 1852, from Ohio, via Panama. He served as mayor of Santa Barbara during 1880-1881 and 1890-1891. He was "Santa Barbara’s most prolific architect of Victorian homes and buildings".
He designed several buildings that are listed on the United States. National Register of Historic Places.
