Peter Buggenhout started his career as an artist and illustrator. Since the first exhibition in Belgium that took place in 1983, Buggenhout has shown his artworks in Germany, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, South Korea, India, and France.
By 1990, Buggenhout abandoned painting and concentrated on sculpture. From the very beginning, he chose waste products and organic materials to be his major medium. He has created many series of works since then, including ‘The Blind Leading the Blind’, the wall-based sculptures ‘Gorgo’ with horsehair and animal blood, and ‘Mount Ventoux’ among others.
Nowadays, the artist lives and works in Ghent, Belgium. His art is represented by Konrad Fischer Gallery in Düsseldorf and Berlin and by Laurent Godin Gallery in Paris.
