Career

Coupar started his career playing his local club Dundee. In 1889 he moved south of the border to Stoke where he played eleven times during 1889-1890 scoring three goals and had an identical record in league and cup during 1890-1891 helping the club to the Football Alliance title. He rejoined Dundee at the end of the season.
