Director Cancer Society of New Zealand Cytogenetic and Molecular Oncology Unit, Christchurch Hospital since 1967. President New Zealand Genetics Society 1978, New Zealand Society for Oncology 1973-1974. Lecturer in Botany and Zoology University of Canterbury since 1971, in Pathology 1979-1990, Professor (Research Fellow), Christchurch Medical School, University of Otago since 1990.

Sir George Grey Scholarship 1952.

New Zealand National Research Fellowship 1955-1957.
