Fox, Peter Kendrew was born on March 23, 1949, in Beverley, Yorkshire, England, to Thomas Kendrew and Dorothy Fox.
Fox studied at Baines Grammar School. In 1971, he received a Bachelor of Arts from King’s College, and then, Master of Arts from the University of Sheffield in 1973.
From 1973 to 1977, Peter Fox worked as an assistant library officer at Cambridge University Library in Cambridge, then as an assistant under-librarian from 1977 to 1978, and after that, from 1978 to 1979, as under-librarian. At Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, he was a deputy librarian from 1979 to 1984. In 1994, Fox worked as a librarian at Cambridge University Library.
From 1978 to 1979, Peter worked at the British Library Project on Teaching and Learning Skills for Librarians. From 1984 to 1994, he worked at the Committee on Library Cooperation in Ireland, and from 1990 to 1991, he was a chairman there.
From 1984 to 1995, Fox served at the National Preservation advisory committee at British Library, and then at the National Preservation office management committee in 1996.
Peter Fox is the head librarian at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England. Fox’s first published work was produced for his master’s degree in librarianship at the University of Sheffield. One of his major works is the Reader Instruction Methods in Academic Libraries, a short book that studies the state of the art of instruction methods for teaching persons how to navigate academic libraries, and Library User Education: Are New Approaches Needed? which is also concerned library education.
