Career
He was affectionately known as Chippy because of his Greek background. He died at work from a heart attack, aged 59. Peter started his career at The Daily Mirror as a copyboy in February 1962 and wrote his first rugby league article in 1964.
He became chief rugby league writer and when the paper merged with The Daily Telegraph in the early 1990s, he continued in that role with the merged newspaper.
Matt Frilingos is also a journalist. He has an award named after him in the NRL Dally M Medal, called the Peter Frilingos Memorial Award.
