Hume attended Red Beach Primary School until the age of 9, after which, he and his brothers became home schooled by their mother.

Hume is the middle of three brothers (with Dann Hume and Jon Hume) who make up the multi-platinum award winning band Evermore. Hume has contributed to songs for Evermore and also sung lead vocals on some of the band"s album tracks. In 2008, Hume was shortlisted for the Cleo Bachelor of the Year award.
Born Peter Elisha Cobbe, Peter is the middle brother of the Hume family.
Alongside brothers Jon and Dann they formed Evermore in Feilding in 1999. The Hume brothers then moved to Australia.
After the band received airplay on Triple J"s "Home and Hosed" in 2002. Pt.2", "Broken Glass", "Inside Of Maine", "Haunted", and "lieutenant"s Only Love".
As part of Evermore, Hume plays bass guitar, keyboards, piano, ukulele, mandolin, guitar and vocals.
He also contributes artwork, photography, graphic design and cinematography to the band"s albums, music videos and other promotional material. Hume is currently working on a solo project, Peter Sonic & The Temple Builders, with musicians Luke J Evans (guitar), Josh Milgate (bass) and Stefan Linares (drums/percussion). While the project is in production, the band are "documenting the procrastination process" which involves their love of food, coffee, cocktails and how-to"s on their blog "This is a Quiet Manitoba".
As Peter Sonic, Hume sings lead vocals and plays guitar, keyboard, piano.
Hume co-owns a boutique branding agency. HUTCH and, when not touring or recording, works in the coffee industry and enjoys roasting his own coffee beans.
