Kerr"s most important work is Postwar British Politics: From Conflict to Consensus (Routledge, 2001, ) which has proven a hit for students with its quirky style.
He was the protégé of Colin Hay and David Marsh, who are the leading lights on the British political science scene.
Kerr is a co-editor of the journal British Politics published by Palgrave Macmillan. Kerr is known to perform stand-up comedy occasionally.
Kerr once appeared on a one off British Broadcasting Corporation television programme about sex and dating.
