Career
As an artist, he is known primarily for his illustrations of J.R.R. Tolkien"s legendarium, particularly The Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings. Price is currently working on a series of scenes for the children"s picture book Muddle of March End by Phillip Stone. Alongside illustration, Price is an academic historian based at the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, where he is studying for a Doctor of Philosophy in Intellectual History.
His Doctor of Philosophy thesis centres on the writing and free trade ideas of the eighteenth-century political economist and Anglican Dean of Gloucester, Josiah Tucker.
Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, in 2012-2013 Price was awarded a scholarship which enabled him to conduct research at the John West. Kluge Center, The Library of Congress, Washington District of Columbia From 2010-2012, Price catalogued the private papers of the intellectual historian, J. West. Burrow, which are now housed at The Keep, Brighton.
