He is Chairman of the Board of Marwyn Materials Limited.
A former group chairman and chief executive of Aggregate Industries, he made 130 appearances for Leicester Tigers as a lock forward between 1963 and 1968, though he was never capped internationally. He was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2006. He is now Chairman of Leicester Tigers.
