He studied under Anthony Glavin and John O"Conor at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and later under Benjamin Pasternak and Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Institute in the United States.

Born in Dublin, Tuite was first educated at Belvedere College. He also undertook additional studies with Lazar Berman and with Alexis Weissenberg. Tuite was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College Dublin, a Masters in Music Performance from Dublin City University and a Doctorate in Musical Arts from The Johns Hopkins University.
He also earned a Masters in Literature and Arts from the University of Oxford.
In 2002 he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and a Bank of Ireland Millennium Scholarship for further study in the United States and in 2007 was nominated for election to Pi Kappa Lambda. Formerly the Senior Dean and the Head of Keyboard Faculty at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, he helped to introduce numerous innovations and projects there and played a key role in the Academy becoming an Associated College of Trinity College Dublin.
Though Tuite"s early studies focused on composition, he nonetheless won numerous awards for performance, including the Millennium Young Musician of the Future competition, the Lisney Award and the Chopin Prize for his performance of Chopin"s third scherzo at the preliminary round of the Dublin International Piano Competition, all in a single year. Tuite has achieved international acclaim for his performances and has broadcast on both radio and television Tuite has developed an international reputation as a pedagogue with many of his students achieving acclaim both nationally and internationally and has been invited to sit on the juries of various prestigious international competitions.
