Peter Turner studied at the Guildford School of Art of Surrey, England, where he took a diploma in photography in 1968 and a City & Guilds Certificate in Photography in 1967.
Peter Turner has been director of Travelling Light Publishers in London since 1978 and co-editor of Creative Camera International Yearbook since 1975.
Peter Turner previously served as an artist-in-residence at Prahran College of Advanced Education, Melbourne, Australia (1977), taught at Antioch Center for British Studies in London (1975), and co-edited Creative Camera magazine (1969-1978).
His writing has been widely published in photography magazines. His photography, writing, and teaching are concerned with "how the objects that make up the urban and rural sprawl can be transformed into 'pictures' [and] what those pictures (my own &. others') might mean."
A member of the Visual Arts Panel of the Greater London Arts Association, Peter Turner served on the Photography Committee of the Arts Council of Great Britain (1973-1978).
