Studied piano and violin. Studied organ, harmony and counterpoint under Samuel P. Studied composition in Leipzig Conservatory, 1874.

Career

Assistant organist Saint Thomas Church, New York, 1870-1880. Organist and musical director West Presbyterian Church, New York, since 1872. Prolific as composer, said to have composed more church music than any other American composer.

Prominent member New York Manuscript Society.
