Harris, Peter Charles was born on November 10, 1865 in Kingston, Georgia, United States. Son of Charles Hooks and Margaret (Monk) Harris.

Education

Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1888. Honor graduate Infantry and Cavalry School, 1895. Army War College, 1908.

Career

Commissioned Second lieutenant, 13th Infantry, 1888, promoted through the grades to colonel, adjutant general, 1917. Brigadier general N.A., 1917. Adjutant general of Army, rank of major general, 1918.

Retired 1922. In Battel of San Juan Hill and siege of Santiago de Cuba, 1898. In active operations against Philippine insurgents, 1899-1900. Representative of War Department at Buffalo Exposition, 1901.

Again in Philippines, 1905-1907, 12-15. Duty General Staff, 1907-1911. Duty in office of Adjunct General, Washington, 1916-1922.

Nominated by President, brevetted, captain, for gallantry in battle at Santiago de Cuba, 1898.
