Peter Dmitrievich studied at Ryazan' gymnasium. In 1898 he graduated from the medical faculty of Moscow University.
In 1898-1902 Peter Dmitrievich was the director of the hospital surgical clinic in Moscow. He was a surgeon in Zemstvo hospitals of Voronezh, Penza, and Yekaterinoslav provinces (1902-1909). Then Peter Dmitrievich was the coordinator of the surgical department of the 1st city hospitals (1910-1914) and at the same time privat-docent of Moscow University (since 1912). He was a military surgeon during the 1st World War and Civil war. Peter Dmitrievich worked in Institute named after N.V. Sklifosovsky (1924-1926). He was head of the 2nd Surgical Department of the S.P. Botkin (since 1926) and on the same base the head of the Department of Surgery of the Central Institute improvement of doctors (since 1934).
The author of more than 60 scientific papers on the problems of general surgery and Urology, including books: Methods of surgical research patients (Moscow, 1922), X-ray atlas of surgical diseases of the urogenital system (Moscow-Leningrad, 1930), Dormant infection in tissues and organs (Moscow-Leningrad, 1931; Moscow, 1940).
in 1913, at his own expense, Peter Dmitrievich bought a plot of land in Moscow on Bolshaya Molchanovka and built a four-story building, in which he was going to open a surgical clinic and live with his family. But these plans were not implemented due to the outbreak of the First World War, and Peter Dmitrievich placed a hospital in his house.
