Petr Gaponyuk defended his candidate thesis in 1967 and in 1975 defended his doctoral thesis, which gave a theoretical justification for the action of all anti-inflammatory medications. In Obninsk, Gaponyuk headed the Council of Young Specialists.
In 1983, Petr Gaponyuk created the first (outside of China) topographic atlas of acupuncture points, where the most clearly and simply depicted and described where and how to act to normalize the work of a particular organ or system.
In 1991 Petr Gaponyuk established his firm NPO FIRN (the successor of which is now ZAO FIRN M), which developed physiotherapy machines and had its own specialized training center.
