Semenov-Tian’-Shan’skii, the famous geographer. From 1885-1889, studied at Petersburg University in the natural science faculty. In 1888-1889, made his first expedition to Western Turkestan, near the Caspian Sea.
From 1890, worked at the Zoological Museum of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. Honorary member of the Russian Entomological Society, 1909. Many articles and books on Russian entomology.
Also known as a translator of Horace.
