When Petr Alekseevich graduated from Physics and Mathematics Departments of the Richelieu Lyceum, he entered Jaeger Regiment as an officer.
Career
In January 1853, Petr Alekseevich became a warrant officer. He was a participant in the Crimean war. In 1855-1857 he studied at Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff. After graduation, Petr Alekseevich traveled (Germany, England, France, Italy). Since 1859 he served in the General Staff and in 1863 he retired in the rank of captain.
