Philip Marheineke was born on May 1, 1780, at Hildesheim, Germany.

Education

Marheineke studied at the University of Göttingen. After studying Protestant theology and philosophy in Göttingen he received his Dr. Phil. in 1803 from Erlangen.

Career

In 1805 he was appointed professor extraordinarius of philosophy at Erlangen; in 1807 he moved to Heidelberg. In 1811 he became professor ordinarius at Berlin, where from 1820 he was also preacher at Trinity Church and worked with Schleiermacher. He published a "History of the Reformation in Germany, " (4 vols. , 1816), "Christian Symbolics, " and several philosophical works.

Philip Konrad Marheineke died on May 31, 1846.
