He was also the Chairman of the National Research Council Committee on Growth, as well as Fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science. The National Academies Press called him "a pioneer in studies of transamination reactions and in the investigation of urea production."
Philip Pacy Cohen was born in Derry, New Hampshire. Cohen graduated from Tufts in 1930 with a Bachelor of Surgery degree.
He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Physiological Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1937.
He then received an Doctor of Medicine degree in 1938. Cohen died in Portland, Oregon.
