Doctor Philip Vasan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Private Bank of Cr Suisse in the Americas.
Education
Doctor Vasan received his Bachelor of Arts with High Honors from and his Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Harvard University where he won the Allyn Young Prize for Teaching in Economics, and the Levenson Memorial Teaching Prize for the top graduate instructor in the university.
Career
Doctor Vasan has been working with the Cr Suisse since 1992 in different global leadership positions. While Chief Executive Officer of the Private Bank for North America and Latin America, his group sponsored the Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy. Between 2003 and 2013 he developed Cr Suisse’s Prime Service franchise.
Working with Professor Andrew Lo of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Pankaj Patel of Cr Suisse, Doctor Vasan sponsored the creation of the first passive and investible Equity 130/30 Index.
In that position, he spoke regularly on markets and on industry developments. Prior to this, he was worldwide Head of Equity Derivatives and Convertibles, Program Trading and Proprietary Trading (2002 to 2003).
He was the head of e-Commerce (2000 to 2001) and prior to this he was the Global Head of Foreign Exchange (1996 to 2000). From 1992 to 1996, he developed and ran Cr Suisse"s Forex derivates business globally.
Before he joined Cr Suisse, Doctor Vasan ran Citibank’s Forex options business in the United States. Doctor Doctor
