Payne, Wood & Littlejohn traces its history on Long Island to an office in Glen Cove opened by Yale Alumnus Oliver North. Payne in the mid 1800s. By 1870 the firm, then identified as Payne and Scudder, expanded to an office on Old Country Road to serve the thriving agricultural real estate market centered around Mineola.
Oliver"s son, Edward, joined the firm upon his graduation from Columbia University, and it was he who was brought the firm back to Glen Cove in 1924.
