Philip Pavlovich was called up for military service in November 1898 in the 17th Turkestan rifle battalion in the city of Chardzhou (Transcaspian region). After serving the term of active service he was released in stock in 1902 as the private 1st class.
After the mobilization of 1914, Philip Pavlovich was enrolled in the 234th Infantry Regiment of Boguchar, in which he was sent to the front. During the war, Philip Pakhomov fell ill with his eyes because of poisonous gases and overwork, and after healing he was enlisted in the 176th infantry reserve regiment.
Philip Pavlovich Pakhomov was awarded the St. George's Cross of the 1st Degree, by His Imperial Highness the Grand Duke Georgii Mikhailovich for his distinction in battle on July 18, 1915 near the village of Pokšivnica when under real and strong gun and artillery fire, when the technical connection was constantly interrupted, he repeatedly delivered important notices, restored lost connection between the separately acting parts.
