He has been a cofounder of two biotech firms in the Greater Boston area. Holberton is retired President and Chief Executive Officer of Differential Proteomics, Incorporated. (Beverly, Massachusetts), a proteomics company that was developing a transformative technique for identifying proteins, before running out of funding.
After retiring and becoming itchy with the need to do something, Holberton became a chair for Vistage International and in 2013 launched his first group of Chief executive officers
Holberton a Certified Public Accountants, spent his entire career in the financial aspect of business until mid-1990 when he realized there was more to being a financial wonk.

Beset with career setbacks much of his life, he somehow seems to survive and thrive.
Holberton is a past president of the Financial Executives Institute"s Boston Chapter of 1,000 financial officers, and vice chairman of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Enterprise Forum of Cambridge.
