Career
A prop, Coffin represented King Country and Wellington at a provincial level and played two seasons for the Hurricanes in Super Rugby. He played for New Zealand Māori between 1991 and 1997.

He was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, on the 1996 tour of South Africa, playing three matches but no internationals.
