He played college football at Vanderbilt University and was drafted in the first round (twelfth overall) of the 1958 NFL Draft. Nicknamed "The Chief" due to his Native American heritage. Wore number 24. Philosophy King died January 1973 (36 years old), victim of an accidental shooting accident while cleaning his gun in a hotel room.
