Career
My mother never left school, she was hospitalized with Polio, then Meningitis in Oxford. She recovered and went straight into the Rolls Royce shadow factory in Star Road in Caversham - a little part of the town of Reading across the river Thames. They made Spitfire Engines, and fuselage, Other parts for the planes were made in the town across the river, and the carburetors were delivered by train from nearby Woodstock. She worked up to VE day. Allowed to celebrate, the entire factory was sent to Portsmouth for the VE day celebrations, where my mother met my father, a freshly trained Marine Commando.
