Pietro A. Yon, Italian organist, composer. Decorated Cavalier Order of Crown of Italy; honorary organist of the S.S. Basilica of St. Peter, Vatican, Rome.


Yon, Pietro A. was born on August 8, 1886 in Settimo-Vittone, Italy. Son of Antonio and Margherita (Piazza) Yon.


Student Royal Conservatories of Milan and Turin. Graduate Academy of St. Cecilia, Rome, full honors in organ under R. Renzi, piano under A. Bustini and G. Sgambati, composition under C. de Sanctis.


1 son, Mario Charles. Came to the United States, 1907, naturalized, 1921. Made debut as substitute organist at the Vatican and the Royal Church of Rome, 1905-1906.

Organist and choirmaster Church of St. Francis Xavier, New York, 1908-1926. Organist and musical director St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, since 1926.
