Elisabeth Charlotte "Pipilotti" Rist , is a visual artist.

“Video is like a compact handbag; everything from literature to art and music is in it," asserts Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist. And she manages to fit her art into a wide range of formats, whether it means putting a monitor inside a schnapps bottle or mounting a large installation in the atrium of New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

At the university she created her first video, audio works, and installations.

Sexuality, eroticism, physicality, oneness with nature, and the longing for cosmic union are recurring themes in her works. A colorful rush of sensual images is paired with musical elements; visual distortions and superimpositions, bleach-outs and

solarizations conjure up dream worlds, evoking states of intoxication.
