She appears frequently on the British Broadcasting Corporation"s long running Gardeners" World television programme and has been a regular panelist on Gardeners" Question Time on British Broadcasting Corporation Radio 4 since 1994. She also was the gardening consultant on the Independent Television series Rosemary and Thyme (2003-2006)
She then went on to gain an Master of Science in crop protection at Reading University. Foreign eleven years she ran the Royal Horticultural Society"s Plant Pathology Department at Wisley.
In 2007, she made a return visit to Durham University, where she was awarded an honorary doctorate.
