April 1917 joined revol movement in Kiev. January 1918 took part in uprising against Centr Rada. 1919 medical orderly, Turbov Sugar Refinery, near Vinnitsa, where he engaged in underground revol work.
1922-1930 gynecologist and obstetrician at various hospitals. 1930 associate professor, Gynecological and Obstetric Clinic, Kiev Medical Institute. From 1931 head, Chair of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Kiev Stomatological Institute.
From 1933 director, Ukraine Research Institute of Mother and Child Care, which he helped to foundation 1940 defended doctor’s thesis on the surgical treatment of colpocystosyrinx using placental tissue as a free transplant: devised method of fistulography for detecting fistules in the early stages. From 1938 professor, Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kiev Medical Institute.
1939 took part in occupation of the Western Ukraine as head of a medical battalion. At beginning of World War 2 first surgeon in a medical battalion. Wounded in the shoulder and captured near Uman’.
Escaped and made his way to Fastov, where he worked in the rayon hospital, treating wounded partisans in the infectious ward during the occupation. On discovery by the Germans fled with medical equipment and personnel. July 1943 joined partisan detachment and took charge of medical unit
